All art accepted and selected will be displayed throughout the 2 days of the Super Con. The artists may offer their submitted art for sale and may also become part of the Charity Art Auction.
Award: Chosen by jury. Selected best entries will be announced and posted on October 6 at the Opening of Tri-City Super Con.
1st prize: $200 plus Super Con/Captain Canuck prize package valued at over $100 & 2 day pass

Watch for the Tri-City Super Con mini comic featuring an article on the first ever recorded comic con and a Captain Canuck origin story. It will include more details on the Tri-City Super Con and a regional events calendar. These mini comics for our FIRST Super Con will definitely become collectors items and will be available for FREE in comic book stores and many other outlets throughout Southern Ontario.
Star Rider Productions headed by Captain Canuck creator Richard Comely and his wife Evelyn are bringing Tri-City Super Con to Kitchener on October 5 6 & 7, 2018. This will be the first major comic and entertainment convention to take place in the Kitchener, Waterloo, Cambridge and Guelph area.
The Super Con will utilize the entire Bingemans Conference Centre - the largest venue in KW – where Star Rider Productions is preparing to celebrate the best in popular culture. Comics, TV, Movies, Video Gaming, Table Top Games, Anime, Original Comic Book Art, Toys, Collectibles, Costume Contests/ Cosplay will all be features at this event.
According to Comely; “The KW tri-city area is the fourth largest metropolitan area in Ontario and has long been underserviced with pop culture events like Super Con.”
The Super Con guest list (actors, authors and artists) will be announced over the coming months. The Comelys have already begun soliciting primarily Canadian talent and plan to invite a few non Canadian celebrities as well. “When we look at the lists of popular actors, authors and comic book artists there must be something in our water that such a disproportionate number of talented people come from right here in Ontario.” claims Richard Comely.
Comely has been a guest at numerous comic conventions in Canada and the U.S. over the years since first publishing Captain Canuck in 1975. He has also worked with many of the artists who will be on the Tri-City Super Con guest list. Comely will be one of the guests at SuperCon. Other Star Rider directors are also helping with guest selection.
The Comely’s - who are parents to 8 children and have 10 grandchildren - are planning to include a Play & Learn Zone and breakroom for families with young children. Hands on activities, presentations, performances and panels will be scheduled for children and teens in this area.
Bingemans Conference Centre is surrounded by beautiful wooded areas and trails along with popular attractions such as EscapeworX and Funworx - making the location as well as the event very family friendly. Face painting, workshops, celebrity guest panels and a Charity Art auction are also planned.
Details for a province-wide Pop Art Contest are available on the website www.tricitysupercon.com Selected entries as well as the winning entries will be presented during Super Con. Speed painting performances and an all new Film Shoot Contest involving guest actors are also in the works. These two events will be exclusive to Tri-City SuperCon.Chapterhouse Publishing, the largest comic book company in Canada and publisher of Captain Canuck comics and books will be one of the major promotional partners for the Super Con. The Comelys are also looking forward to working with local promotional partners and with area and city officials to make Super Con a great experience for everyone involved.
